Reflexology

Reflexology is thousands of years old – there are variations from Ancient China, India, Egypt and the Americas. There is evidence of reflexology from the Incan civilisation that is 12,000 years old!

Reflexology as we know it today was developed by physiotherapist Eunice Ingham, she coined the term, and she is credited with mapping the foot and hand charts we see today and also devising the classic thumb and finger walking technique that is used.

Reflexology is performed on the feet, hands, head or the ears with the therapist’s hands using differing amounts of pressure.

Reflexology can aid the overall harmony of your body systems, as all the organ systems of your body are mapped on your feet. This modality may aid those experiencing imbalances, it can be very helpful for the nervous system, encourages clear skin through helping lymphatic channels be clear, aids your digestive system, and can leave you feeling more energised.

In Francisca’s clinic a session will last from 30 – 50 minutes, depending on the focus of treatment. It can also be incorporated into a therapeutic massage.
